BROADCAST ISSUE WITH CII RESOLVED
In a win-win situation for the Muslim Ummah and a reaffirmation on the importance of guidance from eminent and highly-respected Ulama, a settlement was reached on SANHA’s complaint against Channel Islam International (Cii).
Efforts going back several years of personal interventions by Ulama, correspondences and informal discussions yielded no results, and a broadcast on the 4 November 2013 was the last straw that culminated in a complaint to the BCCSA. Click here to view the complaint.
Unfortunately, some extremist and fringe groups undertook negative campaigning based on false claims with anonymous petitioning, emotional social media outbursts,faceless e-mails and name calling of the kind most people have come to expect from these quarters. However, in the immutable words of the Noble Quran, Chapter 3,Verse 54, “And they planned and Allah (also) planned, and Allah is the best of planners.”
In Allah’s plan the most respected and esteemed senior Ulama of the country launched an initiative that brought both parties together. In meetings held on the 15 and 16 April 2014 under their guidance, SANHA and Cii accepted and signed off an agreement that not only provided a resolution to the issue but also laid down the principle of governing future conduct.
Both parties then appeared before the BCCSA on 23rd April 2014 and presented the reconciliation agreement as reason for withdrawal of the complaint. The agreement is produced below in its entirety.

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful We begin by praising Allah, and sending salutations upon His Noble Messenger, Salallahu Alayhi wa Sallam In the matter between Channel Islam International (Cii) and SANHA, on this day, 14th Jumadal Ukhra 1435, corresponding with 15th April 2014, a reconciliation meeting was convened between the parties under the guidance and supervision of Moulana Abbas Ali Jeena at Darul Uloom Zakariyya. The objective was to reconcile between SANHA and Cii and to request SANHA to consider withdrawal of its complaint against Cii from BCCSA. (Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa) The first party was represented by Moulana Muhammad Saeed Navlakhi, Moulana Zaheer Ragie, Moulana Ebrahim Bham, Moulana Haider Ali Dhorat and Moulana Mohammed Yusuf Seedat. The second party was represented by Mufti Abdul Kader Hoosen, Hajee Ashraf Seedat and Hafiz Shamsheer Khan. Both parties accepted the mediation and reconciliation effort of Hazrat Moulana Abbas Ali Jeena, Hazrat Mufti Razaul Haq and Moulana Shabbeer Ahmed Saloojee. After listening to the statements of both parties, the following agreement was reached by the parties:
Accordingly, to protect the Muslim Ummah from being divided any further, the mediators have requested SANHA to withdraw its complaint to the BCCSA against Cii. SANHA has gracefully accepted the request. The parties undertake to abide by the above settlement agreement and in the interest of the Muslim Ummah undertake not to issue any pronouncements against each other in future.
