South African National Halaal Authority (SANHA)

GUEST who is coming to our AGM

No.140
October 2019 : Safar 1441

Governments and NGO’s subscribe to the principles of good governance in order to move forward and attain the goal of righteous and beneficial public welfare. In Islam the crucial added factor is that tasks must be executed in a manner that pleases Allah Almighty best.

Paradoxically we are confronted daily by news of binges of fraud and conspicuous corruption at various levels of Government and the private sector. From civil servants, crooked cops, politicians, tenderpreneurs, tax dodgers, financial advisers and to company directors, the tidal wave of fraud and corruption has even swept up to the highest office in the land.

Corruption is Haraam: an infernal curse that eats away at the moral fibre of a nation. By outrageous abuse of power and pure greed, the corrupt elite bereft of any sense of ethics and morality, rob the poorest of the poor.  Islam prohibits all forms of corruption and has a zero tolerance on officials accepting bribes. “The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) cursed the one who offers the bribe and the one who receives it.” (Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Ahmad, Bayhaqi)

It has been profoundly stated that the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. The world is in peril from those who tolerate or encourage evil than from those who actually commit it. At SANHA, we fully endorse the principles of transparency and accountability for good governance. Therefore, we are delighted in welcoming our distinguished guest speaker to address the AGM.

His key responsibilities include financial management, project cost reviews and controls which account for approximately R 3bn per annum and operating expenditure management and optimization of R 1,5bn.
