Eid-ul-Fitr is one of the two major festivals in Islam and the culmination of the month long fast of Ramadaan. A month of devotion, submission and obedience. Celebrated by over a billion Muslims it is an occasion of great joy as a day for Allah, peace, remembrance, forgiveness and victory.
Very few events can rival the sheer joy of Eid in the life of a Muslim. The joyous memories are embedded in the inner recesses of their minds from early childhood. They remember only too well the Eid traditions that they participated in with parents which they now continue to uphold. They recall the excitement of the days to the run up to Eid with the sprucing up of the home by mothers and sisters, the new clothes etc. Then comes the day of Eid with the early morning prayer, visit to the graveyard, the main mass congregational prayer, the Eid meal with the family, exchanging gifts and visits to relations and friends
This year the COVID-19 lockdown has changed all of that. We witnessed the shutdown of Masaajid (mosques) resulting in no congregational prayers and breaking of the fast in Islamic brotherhood during Ramadaan. With restriction of movement and economic activity drastic changes in our lifestyle has taken place which will result in a most unusual Eid.
Just as the spirit of Ramadaan prevailed and we found ways and means to do things differently, Eid and the days to follow are opportunities to demonstrate that through the moral upliftment and spiritual elevation gained through fasting we can show compassion, mercy and kindness towards the creations of the Almighty.
On behalf of all of us at SANHA, our certified plants and families, we ask Almighty Allah to protect and keep you safe, bless you and your family, your homes and business with harmony, peace and prosperity on this joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
